In this mature tale of espionage, trusting the wrong person can prove to be fatal, and, as Tripoli soon learns, betrayal is the name of the game.

As she takes on a new assignment, Tripoli quickly discovers that this assignment isn't like the others. While most intelligence operations require surveillance, weapons and communications experts all this one seems to need is her - the window dressing.

An attractive exterior combined with combat skills and a willingness to do whatever it takes to maintain her cover has made her an asset in the past. Now, however, it seems her knowledge of top secret operations has made her a liability; her contract isn't the only thing The Agency wants terminated.

Finding herself in a desperate place, Tripoli finds an unlikely ally in the fight for her life against The Agency.

I must say, I enjoyed this book very much. The action was well paced with lots of twists and turns. I couldn't wait to get back to the characters Rechell created. Nicely dine.

Chasing Pigeons edition by Rechell McDonald Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

A thrilling and exciting story filled with romance, adventure and betrayal. Through each chapter I was anticipating the next, never knowing what was going to happen. The story line was unpredictable which made the book difficult to put down at times and the atypical ending left me gasping! Looking forward to a sequel.
This book offers everything that a reader needs. Action, romance, mystery, and more. I read a lot of Sherrilyn Kenyon books and J. R Ward so this book really appealed to me. Minus the supernatural, this book had a powerful, spunky female lead that tries to dominate a male dominant profession and does it convincingly. There's a point in a book where you hope an author doesn't choose the boring predictable ending most of us see coming, and this book was anything but predictable. I was honestly left wondering 'til the very last page. This book is a definite must read!
Just finished this premier book from this wonderful indie author. Have been following her blog for quite a while and was really excited when I heard about the book. Chasing Pigeons was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Great characters and storyline. Not your average run of the mill spy thriller.
This review is resulting from a properly purchased .co.uk download and may therefore not immediately carry the qualifying term ' Verified Purchase' for this posting on .

Fast moving and with two engaging and interesting main characters. Plenty of action and fight sequences with a plot that does not fully reveal itself until the end.
With no spoilers included here, Tripoli (Great name) is a trained CIA agent chosen for her looks and an aura of apparent sluttiness that she uses as effective tools of the trade. Although she states that sex is a tool she does seem to genuinely enjoy rather a lot of it at the drop of a hat.
Hand-to-hand combat, knife fighting, sniping and small arms are just fall backs for Tripoli who is the window dressing for operations to hide the teams activities and if this means inviting the bad guys into her bed then that she does too.

This is not my normal genre of reading material, I think Dr No was the last spy thriller I read but I have to say it was a right good read and I could imagine Jennifer Lawrence kicking butt in the fight scenes.

I have read the other reviews but whereas they have a point regarding editorial polish, read Neville Shute or Alistair MacClean's first novels and they are as rough as a badgers bum, but obviously they got a lot better very quickly.
The first novel is the hardest to write and I think Ms McDonald has done a stand up job and any further books will only improve.
The lack of a real product description is its shortcoming but that is easily fixed. There are one or two errors in the uploading with font spacing but that can happen inexplicably with kindle.
A further edition to put a shine on the syntax is required but I have no hesitation of awarding five stars for a grand first effort.
Well done, onwards and upwards!
The one thing my book club members and I agree about most self-published books is the lack of description. Just as one would expect it on a paperback cover, ebooks need it too. If you have written a novel, what's a few more words for a description. Yes, I am ranting but time and again, the book club is given books that offer no clue about genre, characters or plot. And in this case, the description doesn't at all prepare you for the story you are about to read.

As Tripoli comes to terms with her new assignment, she soon discovers that her current situation is different than most. Tripoli is written in such a way, her layered character lends meaning to the plot. As she tries to get herself to safety, she discovers more about herself.

Good writing and a good story with unpredictable twists.

Would I recommend this read? Oh yes, definitely.

Disclosure I received a review copy of this book from the author via Orangeberry Book Tours. I did not receive any payment in exchange for this review nor was I obliged to write a positive one.
Was the book description accurate? Ummmm, what book description? If I don't know what your book is about, how am I going to decide whether I want to read it or not?

How did you feel about the opening / ending sequences of the book? Forget the opening and ending sequences. I found this book tedious. The byline says the book has had an editor. This is not apparent when you read the book. At least 3 adjectives are used in almost every sentence. Missing words occur more than once. For instance, the main character does not "sit next TO him", she sits "next him". The use of commas & "and"s are not entirely accurate which does not make for a comfortable read. When a new person speaks, their speech needs to go in a new paragraph and lastly, thoughts need to be differentiated by either a new paragraph or italics. Some already appeared in italics and some didn't which made me going back and trying to understand who was saying what and who was thinking what?

Was this book worth reading? I think if it is given a good polish, then it will be worth reading. Right now, you spend too much re-reading the sentences to understand the story.

Disclosure - I received a complimentary copy from the author which did not affect my honest opinion.
There were very few grammar/spelling errors which was a great find. The story was really interesting though, so many plot twists and turns. Highly recommend this one!
