The story starts in a Manhattan courtroom. Public Defender, Molly Flanigan, is in the midst of defending her client. Later on, the jury comes back with a guilty verdict. Molly's client is pissed and threatens her. She ignores the threat. After she leaves court, she is attacked by a man. Molly fights him off and he is arrested.Molly goes home to her apartment and reflects on how her life is. She is not happy in Manhattan and her career isn't going the way she intended. She then makes the decision to go back to her hometown of Stillwater.
In Stillwater, Molly meets with a lawyer by the name of Jim Marshall. He is retiring and Molly wants to buy his law practice. Jim tells Molly about the types of cases she will be dealing with and that there is one other offer on the practice besides hers.
Outside the law office, a guy Molly dated in high school, rides up to her on his motorcycle. Lucas Bryan and Molly are surprised to see each other in Stillwater. There is still a spark between them. They talk and it turns into an argument. Molly walks away into a restaurant.
Molly is about to eat her lunch when Lucas comes in and sits down next to her. She is pissed, but also very attracted to him. Lucas tells Molly where he is staying and invites her over. After she leaves the restaurant, Molly goes to see Lucas.
Molly and Lucas have sex. Afterwards, Molly is angry at herself because she wasn't able to resist him. She tells Lucas that they should stay away from each other.
The next day, Molly goes to Jim Marshall's law office to speak to him. To her surprise, Lucas is sitting in Jim's chair. Lucas informs Molly that he outbid her for the law office. Lucas let's Molly know that he is willing to sell her half of the business and they can work together. Molly thinks about her options.
What will she do? Can't wait to find out.
